I feel immense pleasure in welcoming you on the
official website of RCU Govt. PG College, Uttarkashi.
Since the inception of the college in 1969, the tireless striving,
commitment and fidelity have facilitated the growth of this ‘Temple of Learning’.
The evolution of the institute during these last five decades has witnessed strong
blend of state-of-the-art infrastructure and intricately intertwined human resource
committed to provide education with thrust on creativity and innovation with a professional
approach.
The college in its long history has
accommodated students and faculty of different communities. In our college we
respect the national values of integration and communal harmony. We take pride
in reciting our National Anthem and National Song in our college. We at RCU
Govt. PG College strive for maintaining a reputation for quality teaching,
imparting excellent education, enabling holistic development and inculcating
leadership and social values. The college has earned a prestigious reputation of
harnessing a progressive outlook towards education by introducing skill
enhancement and career oriented courses inculcating latest skills, and ICT
enabled teaching facilities. NCC, NSS & Rover Rangers units in the college are
being run with full dedication and gusto.
NCC cadets & NSS volunteers regularly
take part in health and literacy drives and all other programs of national
integration. Eminent experts are invited from both industry and academia for
interaction with the students on latest development and trends. 19 students
received INSPIRE fellowship in academic session 2016-17 and 13 students have
applied for the current session. Besides, their teaching and other academic
responsibilities many faculty members are involved in Research and Development
activities. Two research projects externally funded by GBPIHED (Almora) and
NRDMS-DST (New Delhi) are being conducted by Department of Botany. Department of
Hindi has done significant efforts for the revival of local languages which are
on the verge of extinction. A DST-INSPIRE faculty laboratory is operational in
Department of Chemistry.
Besides this, latest books required
for various subjects are being bought for the college library. College Magazine
‘Him Suman’ provides students with a platform for creative writing. Moreover,
all Departments have subscribed to e-journal, and have their account on
‘INFLIBNET’. In the field of sports, our students have brought laurels to the
college. Career Counseling and Aptitude and GD classes are conducted to improve
the skills of the students. We have hostel facility for boys and the proposal
for a girls’ hostel has been sent to RUSA. Anti-Ragging measures/Initiatives are
put in place well before commencement of the new session. College has special
concern for Gender Equity and to maintain the peaceful atmosphere for girl
students we have Women Redressal Cell. To ensure the participation and
involvement of stakeholders we have Parent Teacher Association and Alumni’s
Association. College has an Auditorium and open air stage for conducting
cultural events such as Annual Function, Seminars, invited lectures and other
cultural or academic meets.
In its long and dynamic journey of
extending the outreach of education for students residing in border district,
the college has remained an interface between knowledge and societal
expectations, between aspirations of its young stakeholders and the hard reality
looking into their faces and between national goal and local challenges. We are
engaged in making it an academic dreamland, a superior abode of learning and
knowledge for young men and women, who aspire to become experts of their field.
Our students understand that with the power of knowledge, comes the
responsibility to translate it into creative citizenship. We go an extra mile to
ensure that our students are not only empowered with professional competence, an
ability to assume positions of leadership with ease but also shatter inhibitory
glass ceilings. We aim at chiseling pupils’ yearnings to make a difference, to
fulfill their dreams, and turn them into viable strategies as to make their
dreams come true.
I extend my warm wishes to all
